Title: "Logistic Data Infrastructures: Challenges, Solutions and Business Models"

Date: 5 June 2013

Location: Munich, Germany

Organiser: iCARGO project

Logistics represents the link between the economies in Europe and is fundamental to conduct business in today’s international supply networks. At the same time novel ICT infrastructures offer unprecedented capabilities to capture, analyze and exchange data across the supply chain. Through the intelligent use of information, the potential of global logistics networks can be maximized, reducing the underutilization of logistics resources and the ecological as well as economical impacts of this underutilization. A common industrial effort on the European level is required to turn ICT innovations into sustainable practices leading to higher margins for the industry and cleaner and more environmental friendly logistics operations for the society.

The goals of the iCargo workshop are:

  • to present advanced solutions applied by leading industries in the logistics field, and
  • to discuss the vision and requirements for future logistics data infrastructures, with the contribution of key research projects and European institutions.

Topics to be discussed include, among others:

  • Supply network design, optimization of resources on a global level;
  • Big data infrastructures in logistics;
  • Innovative business models based on cooperation and information exchange;
  • Impact of regulations on the innovation capability of the logistics industry;
