"From Research to the market - Key Factors on Innovation"


The 2nd TIPS workshop was successfully organised on 24 October 2013 in Brussels, Belgium. Overall, 32 participants from research organisations, governmental and non-governmental bodies, as well as commercial organisations including SMEs had the opportunity to share their ideas and experiences regarding the market uptake of research results in the broeader field of Transport.

The workshop focused on:

  • Key impact factors for successful market-oriented exploitation
  • The role of Intellectual Property Rights management
  • Exploitation opportunities under HORIZON2020

During the workshop a number of case studies were presented exemplifying the exploitation approaches undertaken by previous EU-funded research projects for different transport modes in terms of efficient exploitation pathways, financing opportunities, entering the market or expanding to new markets, etc.

Success stories

  • NICHES+ aimed to network actors engaged in developing innovative urban transport concepts, while also looking into the needs of its potential users and implementers.
  • CONDUITS objectives were to develop Key Performance Indicators that assist European municipalities in business decisions for ITS projects and to facilitate best practice experiences between municipalities in this sector
  • DynoTRAIN is one of the three projects in the TrioTRAIN cluster (Total Regulatory Acceptance for the Interoperable Network) that aimed to promote interoperability by increasing the use of virtual certification. DynoTRAIN concentrated on Railway Dynamics and Track Interaction
